Redwood Mountain Faire Monalice Poster 2012

June 2, 2012 Redwood Mountain Faire, Felton, CA Moonalice poster by Lauren Yurkovich

According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by Lauren Yurkovich depicts the Seven Sisters of the Moonalice tribe. Noted for their synchronicity, the Sisters traveled the country, performing at fairs with Redwood or Mountain in the name. The act was impressive, but transportation was a nightmare. As you can see from the poster, the sisters were part Siamese and were attached at the ankles. This explains why they didn’t wear underpants.

Good Ole Days Moonalice Poster 2012

April 14 & 15, 2012 Pacific Grove’s Good Old Days Festival, Pacific Grove, CA Moonalice poster by Lauren Yurkovich

According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by Lauren Yurkovich depicts the good side of Pacific Grove’s own PG Moonalice. As you can see, PG’s good side was very, very good. From her tipi here in the park, PG watched over Pacific Grove, protecting it from narrow-minded tourists and wayward tee shots. As great as she was, PG made a bad impression on the author Robert Louis Stevenson, who visited in 1879. After his visit, Stevenson said “I have never been in any place so stinky.” Evidently Stevenson was not aware of the iconic aroma of burning hemp. His loss.
